The CQ Health Service Collaborative is an innovative partnership between private, public and non-government sectors. The organisations which form the Collaborative aim to improve the availability, quality and access to health services for the people of Central Queensland.
Partnerships between health organisations are highly regarded by governments in particular. They have the potential to ensure the community is getting efficient and quality services. But effective partnerships take time, they require trust and commitment, and they need to be worthwhile.
Since 2005, the Collaborative has focused on ensuring there is a sustainable workforce to provide the necessary services for the region, been heavily involved in lobbying and advocacy and established a research and innovation group that continues to encourage best practice operations in the region.
Current priorities include:
-
Development and implementation of a workforce recruitment and retention plan to ensure the region has a workforce for the regions current and future needs;
-
Coordinating a midwifery scholarships scheme for the Central Queensland Region;
-
To facilitate and support the expediting of current renal initiatives, and to promote renal awareness and prevention to the Central Queensland community;
-
Establishment of a Research and Innovation group in partnership with CQ University and the University of Queensland to enhance research within health; and
-
Continually working with key stakeholders within the region including, health, education, business and community to enhance the health and wellbeing of the community. A significant amount of advocacy and lobbying is done by the Collaborative and it’s members to ensure this.
-
Coordinating a community wide response to Sexual Assault.
