Community Nutrition

Community Nutrition improves the general health and some clinical nutrition issues through programs and projects that are executed on a community level.

Community Nutrition aims to promote and improve good nutrition practices on a community level by integration, networking and education.

The Division’s district chronic disease and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health are both key focus areas for improvement. This is where the main program for community nutrition will lie. The program will be conducted from a “grass roots” level to directly interact with the community and its leaders.

Other areas of interest are infant and child nutrition – education of parents. Also helping school tuckshops/canteens serve nutritious meals using Queensland Education’ Smart Choices manual by supporting and educating tuckshop/canteen conveners, employees, and volunteers about good food and nutrition practices.
