iHealth Care Project from GPQ
Activities planned:
The Service Provider and Consent Form will soon be released to GPs, Allied Health Professionals and other service providers to be part of this project. Much thought have been put into this electronic form which aims to help simplify the process. In the mean time, please do not hesitate to contact either Danielle Niu (dniu@capdivgp.com) or Alister Gill (agill@capdivgp.com) from the Division if you would like to know more about this project.
May - June 2008:
Representatives from both the Rockhampton Mater Hospital and Hillcrest Private Hospital attended an information session about secure messaging component of iHealth Care project. Alister Gill and Danielle Niu from the Division attended the Medical-Objects installation training and are now certified installers of the software.
April 2008:
The Division has been selected to be part of iHealth Care's Phase 1 rollout. iHealth Care aims to improve communication between healthcare entities and currently have two components to the initiative - the iHealth Care Directory and a secure messaging component. Medicare Easyclaim
Medicare has recently introduced a new claiming system called Easyclaim. The key features of this system are (an extract from Medicare information sources):
- Can be used for patient and bulk bill claims
- No batching or storage required for bulk bill claims
- Single payment within 24 hours, direct into your nominated bank account
- More certainty with 'pay doctor' cheques - speeds up the process by lodging the claim on the spot
- No additional bank transaction fees (Please note that standard EFTPOS charges still apply)
- Concession verification - instant confirmation of patients' concessional status
- Practices can lodge Medicare claims using existing EFTPOS terminals, payments are usually made within 24 hours

New PKI application method
For those of you wanting to apply for a Public Key Infrastructure (more commonly known as PKI), please note that there have been changes as to how you can apply for one. Interested applicants no longer need to log on to www.hesa.com.au and provide Evidence of Idenfication to apply for a key. Instead, this service is now looked after by Medicare Australia and applications are to be lodged using the form at the link below.
