The Capricornia Division of General Practice is one of 111 Divisions of General Practice throughout Australia (as of June 2008).
Principally funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing, Divisions of General Practice are not-for-profit organisations, which aim to improve health outcomes for patients by working with GPs and other health service providers to improve the quality and accessibility of health care at the local level.
The Capricornia Division represents over 144 General Practitioners (GPs) practising in approximately 43 general practices in the Rockhampton, Capricorn Coast and Gladstone areas.
The Division is governed by a Board of Directors, to whom the Chief Executive Officer reports.
The Division funds a number of key GP consultants and working groups who act as advisory bodies to Program Officers and assist with the implementation of the Division’s Business Plan. The Division provides activities that aim to improve the clinical care provided by GPs and assist in ensuring the effectiveness of their practice.
The Division also has a focus on the integration of health services, especially those in the primary care arena, and on the maintenance of health and wellbeing amongst local GPs.
The Division’s staff focus on meeting the needs of Divisional members and actively pursue excellence in all their activities.
